The warm sparkling sunlit autumn morning on May the 20th, was the cue for a successful Cornell graduation ceremony held at St Mathews in the City.
The Cornell Education Group held its 13th Graduation event with over two hundred graduands attending the venue packed with family and friends excited to see the students take the stage to receive their passing out certificates. Graduates form disciplines covering business, information technology, hospitality management and the culinary arts were dress in a colourful array of suits, regalia, and cultural gowns.
The Principal Mel Cooper set the scene with a motivational speech that emphasised the importance of commitment and focus. The guest speaker Melissa Lee, a National MP, gave a pertinent and personal story of believing and doing what it takes to reach the goals you set in life. This hit home perfectly with the large percentage of international graduates who are now looking to move into full time employment in the greater Auckland region. The ceremony highlighted a number of Excellent Student awardees, with Cornell’s top students’ giving personal speeches thanking many for their input received along the journey through Cornell’s educational environment and in gaining relevant jobs in the industry.
The management and academic staff at Cornell Education Group would like to wish the best to all the graduates that attended and to those who were unable to attend the special occasion.
