The Cornell Education Group is the recipient of the prestigious “Training Excellence Award” for 2014 at the National Culinary Fare – this is an outstanding result that has demonstrated The Cornell Education Group’s professionalism and excellence in training staff for the hospitality industry of New Zealand. Marisa Bidois, the Chief Executive of the New Zealand Restaurant Association, coordinated the Prize Giving Awards on the evening of the 19th of August. This Event was dominated by all of the larger training establishments who were present to see the outcomes of the highly coveted awards. Cornell received a total medal count of 26 Bronze, 17 Silver and a Gold medal from the supreme efforts of students and trainers.

Many of hospitality sector’s best and brightest were on show in Manukau (Vodafone Events Centre) over the last three days (August 17 – 19th); this is where the NZ Culinary Fare opens its doors to competitors from across the country.
One of the largest three day hot kitchen competition in the Southern Hemisphere, the NZ Culinary Fare, which is now in its 22nd year, will see secondary students, hospitality students and industry professionals line up in a range of competitions designed to test talent and technical skill.
It’s an intense and gruelling competition of the highest calibre, along with a chance for all to test their skills and be judged by the some of the best in the sector.
All the staff at Cornell congratulates the trainers and competitors on a great effort and extremely positive outcome. This has been a fantastic chance to develop camaraderie and build skill strengths for future industry engagement.
